I had a need today to get the SQL Server 2005 specs for a bunch of remote servers for upgrade/patching purposes and came across this link with a neat little SQLCMD script! The only addition I did was to add the SERVER_NAME placeholder in it :)
A nifty little script:
----------------------------------------------------
:setvar defaultserver <SERVER_NAME>
:connect $(defaultserver)
USE [master]
GO
select serverproperty('productversion'),
serverproperty('productlevel'),
serverproperty('edition')
----------------------------------------------------
Ensoy!

I will be at C4C starting tonight helping out with the charity org , Community Services League. It looks like a relatively straight-forward project but based on past experience, it will always be an exciting challenge to design, architect, implement and deploy any project within 2 days! If someone tells you otherwise, let me know, I sure would like to talk to them :)
To get a quick feel of how it was last year, check the cool video out!
See ya there!

<drumroll>...May 12th, 2010! </drumroll>
The SharePoint Product Team has blogged about it and set an official date of May 12th, 2010 for both SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010. RTM is April...
It's getting close......!

It's hard to believe that 2 months in the new year have already flown by! Hope ya'll are having a great year, just like me :)
I will be speaking at this month's Kansas City Office Geeks monthly user group meeting (Thursday, March 4) at Centriq over by 87th and State Line from 6 to 8 PM.
The topic is quite exciting and deals with WCF and SharePoint 2010. Nothing too techie, more an outline of how the SharePoint core service architecture is built upon WCF to provide a robust and highly flexible Service Application Model. Check out the USGS site for more information.
I am also signed up for Coders 4 Charities (C4C) this year although given the commitments at home and work, I am not sure how much I can contribute. It does like it is shaping up to be a blockbuster event.
If you are free and would like to spend some time for the community, check it out!

A little later than expected, but attached are my slides. You can view or download them from Slideshare.
SharePoint Saturday was a blast and I had a great time both presenting and being a part of the organizing team
Look forward to making this event even more of a blockbuster next year!
Enjoy!
