I had a friend over for dinner last night, who had just returned from India after a 4 year long hiatus. Suffice to say, he was more than surprised to see the changes that have taken place in his absence! Here is a trivia flash; when you get a bunch of indians together and they start reminiscing about the good old days, the conversation invariably turns to food, Indian food! I remember the last trip I made, it was as hectic as could be on a trip that is supposed to be a vacation. My wife is a punjabi and hails from Delhi while I am from Chennai. Live Maps puts the distance at 1280 miles and its roughly 3 hours flying time between the two cities. In a span of two weeks, we made two round trips between Delhi and Chennai in addition to a 40,000 mile roundtrip journey from KC to Delhi.
What I love about being married to a punjabi (apart from a punjabi kudi) is the food and the social nature of being one. Eating is just not an exercise in their (now mine
) part of the world. It is a process to be savoured, enjoyed and experiencing all the flavors that go with the food.
I have to point to one of the best culinary experience I have ever had at Punjabi by Nature. Will post pics to spice it up in the follow up!
