So I finally figured out why my email was not working. Considering the fact that my Master's is in Computer Networking, I should have figured this out a long time ago! Just goes to show how rusty your grey matter becomes if you don't keep on top of things 
Anyway, the issue was with the MX record in the DNS record for my hostname. I had registered the domain through GoDaddy but then pointed the name servers to go to my host. Once you do that, you also have to configure the MX record with your hosting provider to point to GoDaddy's email if you have email sourced through them.
It just took me 3 days to figure that out! In the end, as they say, all is well that ends well. So now, you folks should be able to contact me via my email.
